Ways to Apply

First-year Students

  1. Apply to Appalachian State University
  2. Complete the Watauga Residential College application in your MyMountaineer Portal
  3. Check your email! Students selected for admission to Watauga Residential College will be notified starting in January

Transfer Students

  1. Apply to Appalachian State as a transfer student
  2. Contact Dr. Laura Ammon at ammonll@appstate.edu to discuss the Watauga Residential College application process
  3. Review program requirements: Transfer students must live in the Living Learning Center during their first academic year and complete a sophomore- or junior-level course in the program

Schedule a Visit

Visit Watauga Residential College

Determine whether Watauga will be a good home for you. Spend a day with a current student—go to class, visit our residence hall, have lunch, and talk with faculty. Please email our director, Dr. Laura Ammon, or complete our interest form to schedule your visit. Please allow us 48 hours to reply.
